THE BIG GUNDOWN: John Zorn plays the music of Ennio Morricone (USA 1986/2000)

The John Zorn Discography No.11

So Zorn continues with his tribute recordings with this set of his adaptations of a score of Ennio Morricone scores. This is an absolute must for any Zorn collector. Plenty of great tracks here of course, by the legendary  Morricone but Zorn dose a fantastic job of arranging these pieces with flourishes of his own unique idiosyncrasies to make an album that put him more firmly on the map. A veritable roller-coaster ride of musical genres all fused into this wonderful record. The additional tracks on this anniversary issue  are just a good as the original ones. Possibly Zorn's greatest recording and one I have loved for quite some time. Rating 5/5. Fantastic.
