Mt Barossa 28 March 2015

Uncle Roddus Tramping Diary: Tramp No.157
Mt Barossa 28 March 2014

Mt Barossa is a 1300m bump just behind Mt Somers and this was the third visit to this hill. 15 trampers set off around 10am on a foggy morning. The fog cleared fairly quick as we departed and soon warmed us up as we started our ascent. This was an easy/moderate club trip and so there were several more easier trampers in this group which meant a slower than usual pace going up the hill. This helped me look pretty good as I was at the front of the bunch instead of being near the back as is usual. The terrain is pretty easy and the climb steady but not too steep, the day was mostly warm with a slight nor' west breeze on the tops as we enjoyed the great views. This time we took a different route off, first heading north and then east to drop off a spur into the Stour river and then followed a good track back to the road. Walked 12.7Km, climbed 980M and took 6 and 1/2 hours.
