Masada Book Two

Practically a John Zorn Supergroup and this super album kicks off in a super way with the first track an up tempo Masada Rocker with Marc Ribot blowing us away with a superlative display of surf guitar par excellence. This is sooo good. This band is a real interesting mix, with Kenny's vibraphone giving it the jazz feel, Trevor and Joey, the Masada grove, Marc, the rockin surf guitar(and he is the star for me on this set), the whole band is a great combination. Nothing quite gets to the heights of the opening track but the rest get pretty close, especially on the rockier tracks where marc struts his stuff. Rating 4.5/5.
