Sudden Valley - 7 February 2015

Uncle Roddus Tramping Diary: Tramp No.152
Sudden Valley - 7 February 2015

Another brilliant summers day in the endless summer of 15' and I got to torture my legs again on this first serious walk for the new year. A Club trip with 6 keen blokes setting off up Sudden Valley around 10am from the Hawden Shelter. The river levels are low and the water warm despite a light dusting of snow on the tops a couple of days earlier as we bolder hop up Sudden valley to the Biv, where we enjoy lunch in the sun.
The next step is to head up the next side stream,  up stream on the true left, and follow this nice scenic valley up onto the tops at the saddle between points 1794 and 1653. At the saddle we have afternoon smoko before sidling under point 1653 and then head along the ridge towards point 1346. Before we reach point 1346, we turn south east and pop over a wee hump as we bush bash our way down to the Hawdon  river valley and the slog down river back to the cars in about 9 hours. We walked just under 17kms.
